Democracy Watch has filed an official complaint with the Commissioner of Canada Elections alleging that Prime Minister Trudeau violated Canada’s election law during the 2015 federal election by trying to get voters to vote for Liberal candidates by baiting them with the false promise that “2015 election will be the last federal election using first-past-the-post” voting system.
Canada’s election law, called the Canada Elections Act, says in subsection 482(b) that it is illegal for anyone to make a false claim to try to convince voters to vote for any election candidate.
Please send the letter set out on this page calling on the Commissioner to investigate and prosecute Prime Minister Trudeau for his false promise.
If Prime Minister Trudeau baited you to vote for the Liberal Party candidate in your riding, add the following line to the letter before you send it:
“I was baited to vote for the Liberal Party candidate in my riding by Mr. Trudeau’s false promise.”
