Stop Ford’s Cover-up Court Case Fund

Stop Ford's Cover-up Court Case Fund

Ontario PC Party Premier Ford uses his personal cellphone to take calls about his government’s decisions and actions. A few years ago, a journalist and a member of the public requested Premier Ford’s cellphone call log records (not including personal information contained in the records). Premier Ford refused to disclose the records.

Ontario’s Information and Privacy Commissioner ordered Premier Ford to disclose his cellphone call logs in November 2024. Ford appealed to court, and the court ruled in December 2025 that Ford had to disclose his cellphone records.

Instead of doing that, Premier Ford and his Cabinet ministers included measures in budget Bill 97 that block the public from being able to see government records that the Premier and ministers have created, retroactive back all the way to 1988, including Ford’s cellphone records and any other records that have been requested from Ford or any minister, or that the Commissioner has ordered Ford or a minister to disclose.

With your support, Democracy Watch will file a court case to challenge Ford’s cover-up of his cellphone records and other Cabinet records, some of which may be related to the RCMP’s investigation of the Greenbelt scandal, or related to the OPP’s investigation of the Skills Development Fund scandal.

Premier Ford has also applied to appeal the court ruling that ordered him to disclose his cellphone records. If that appeal is approved, Democracy Watch will also apply to intervene in the appeal to support the order requiring Ford to disclose the records.

Doug Ford and his Cabinet ministers will fight long and hard to keep secret their communications with lobbyists and Greenbelt developers and others who have been trying to get favours from them.

We are aiming to raise $65,000 to cover the costs of what could be a long court battle and campaign to reverse Ford’s abuses of power.

Please donate to support this court case, and Democracy Watch’s ongoing campaigns to stop power abuses and to stop excessive government secrecy, and please share this page with anyone you think may be interested.

All together we can stop Ford’s cover-up!
